David was prepared to battle goliath by killing the lion and the bear in the wilderness. David did not prepare to carry the Arc of the covenant and did it his own way. This caused the death of Uzza. After this, David sought the Lord. Many times over, it proclaims, they prepared for battle. John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus. Be prepared in season and out of season. They were to be completely rid of themselves, their flesh, their will, their thoughts, and anything about them so that when others looked upon them, they did not see men, but saw the glory of God Himself. They were called to a high place of preparation because there was a high responsibility on their lives and ministry. The levitical priests received no earthly inheritance. They received God HIMSELF. There was a higher calling and because of that a higher sacrifice demanded of them. David’s musicians were trained and skilled. Those who worked on the temple were fine craftsmen whose fathers and grandfathers were fine, skilled artisans. I am terrible at painting flat paint on walls. If God had called me to paint the walls of the temple, He would first have had me learn with a skilled painter by painting other things first in preparation,. Learning that skill. He prepares you for what He calls you to do. These men had worked years and years perfecting their craft before they ever began working on the temple. They prepared in their own homes, then maybe neighbors homes, etc. but they started small and as they were faithful in the little, God began to add responsibility and anointing. Prepared for battle. Soldiers went to battle having been trained to battle. You don’t hand a five year old a two-edged sword and expect him to actually do anything with it. There is a time of preparation. |
